Baby Scan FAQ's

1. When is the best time to have a scan done?

We say the best time to have a scan with us, is between 26 and 32 weeks for a 3D and 4D scan. For a 2D scan ,we think the best time to have the scan with us is between 20 and 26 weeks.We have done scans after 32 weeks, for 3D and 4D,but to get good results it all depends on babies position and at this stage the space in which baby can move about can be limited.

2. Will it hurt or harm my baby?

The whole consultation and scan is entirely painless. We put you at complete ease.The equipment used is state of the art and is supplied by GE Healthcare, world leaders in Ultrasound technology. Ultrasound technology has been subject to hundreds of clinical studies for over 30 years and has not been found to cause harm to either mother or baby.

3.How do I book?

To book an appointment just ring our reception on 01482 382030 and one of our receptionists will

make an appointment for you at a time to suit you. Also you can contact us through the contact page on this web site and we will send some information to you.

4. Do I need to be referred by my GP?

No, the 4D scan is an entirely non-clinical process.

5. What happens if an abnormality is found on the scan?

The scan will be stopped.You will be given a reason for this, but no medical advice can be given and iit will be suggested that you see your consultant as soon as possible.

6. Why should I choose See My Baby?

See My Baby is currently the only place to offer this service in the East Yorkshire area. Each of the principals at See My Baby have had children of their own and so fully understand how wonderful this bonding experience will be.

7. Can I bring friends or family?

Our suites are able to seat up to 5 guests.A large screen monitor is provided to enable easier viewing.

8. Do I need a full bladder?

A full bladder is not necessary. However if baby is in a difficult position, emptying your bladder may cause baby to move into a nice position.

9. Can I buy extra DVD's?

Yes they cost £10 and only apply to the 4D package.

10.Is it always a successful scan?

Sometimes baby is laying in such a position that no quality pictures or DVD can be obtained. If this

is the case, we will re-book you for a later date at no extra cost.

11. I don't want to know the sex of my baby.

On the day of your scan just tell the sonographer and she will avoid the area.

12. Do I need to pay upfront?

You pay for the scan on the day.We accept all major credit and debit cards as well as cash. We

don't accept cheques.

13. Can I spread the cost of my scan?

Yes,you can purchase vouchers of any amount you want up to the cost of your scan. These vouchers can also be purchased for a relative or friend as a present.
